Kylian Mbappé will reportedly leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer to join Real Madrid. The 25-year-old will arrive in the Spanish capital as a free agent, and his coming to Los Blancos will have a positive affect on a couple of players financially.
Some key players might feel the impact as Mbappé steps in with a hefty salary, plentiful bonuses, and a status as an offensive leader, all secured before even stepping onto the field. As a result, Real Madrid will need to navigate the egos of all involved with care.
MARCA’s Carlos Carpio reports (h/t Foot Mercato) that Mbappé’s arrival at the Bernabéu could ultimately have quite positive consequences for other players. Carpio explains that Real Madrid has notably conceded on certain fronts in negotiations with Mbappé’s camp, such as image rights.
According to Carpio, the amounts Mbappé will pocket are higher than what’s being reported in the Spanish press. So, the La Liga team needs to compensate other players so that egos don’t clash.
Carpio adds that the Real Madrid leaders should consequently increase the salaries of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior—albeit more modestly in the latter case—so that the two and the Frenchman have roughly similar earnings. Bellingham will also have a better salary next season despite the PSG star’s arrival.
