La Gazetta dello Sport are reporting that Serie A champions Inter are interested in signing Antwerp’s teenage striker George Ilenikhena. The 17-year-old is eligible to play for both Nigeria and France and only joined the Belgian side in the summer from French club Amiens SC. He cost the defending Pro League champions €6m, but should fetch plenty more if he is sold in the summer. Ilenikhena is currently under contract until 2027.
It is clear why a club like Inter would be interested in the young forward. He is physically imposing for a teenager and has shown plenty of ability so far this season. So far he has scored 14 goals in 45 games for the side, with one of those coming in the Champions League. He has been a key player in the clubs run to a second successive cup final, with five goals in five games during the competition. The forward has mainly played off the bench as an impact sub, with his only Champions League goal coming in dramatic fashion against Barcelona off the bench.
According to Transfermarkt, the forward is valued at €10m, although Antwerp would certainly be expecting a lot more if he were to be sold in the summer.
