French Open 2024: Emma Raducanu Drops Bombshell With Unexpected Move After Wild-Card Rejection

Emma Raducanu has thrown a curveball by pulling a Grand Slam plug out of the 2024 season book! She was denied a main draw wildcard to the second grand slam tournament of the year, which starts on May 26. The French Tennis Federation (FFT) made public their 2024 wildcard list on Tuesday. The FFT decided to limit the distribution of its wildcards to French players alone, in accordance with its mutual wildcard agreements with the French Open and Australia. While there are a lot of discussions going on regarding whether the Grand Slam champion will be a part of this year’s event or not, she has taken her name off the qualifying list for the French Open 2024.

In addition, the British tennis player, who had three surgeries last year and was placed No. 212 at the time, is still making progress toward her goal of finishing the tournament with her protected ranking of 103. She needs four players who are ranked higher than her on the entry list to withdraw before the qualifying draw is held at the end of this week, as she is now four spots outside the French Open main draw.
