French bakers cooked the world’s longest baguette on Sunday at 140.53 meters (461 ft), reclaiming a record previously held by Italy for five years.
The baguette was about 235 times longer than the traditional one and was 10 meters longer than the one made in Italy in June 2019.
Baguette Given To Homeless
According to reports, the French bakers began the process of shaping the dough at around 3 am which took hours to conclude.
The chefs told the DW news that the process required “90 kilos of flour, 60 liters of water, 1.2 kilos of salt and 1.2 kilos of yeast.”
To meet Guinness guidelines, the baguette had to maintain a thickness of at least 5 centimeters (just under 2 inches) throughout its length.
After certification, a portion of the baguette was shared with the public, while most of the remaining portion was donated to homeless individuals.
