According to The Guardian, Frank McCourt is not entertaining the prospect of selling Marseille. The American businessman remains committed to OM and wants to lead the club to success at the Stade Vélodrome.
Speculation has existed around McCourt’s willingness to sell Les Phocéens after what has been a difficult period for the club with inconsistencies on the pitch and in success across the past decade. Investors from Saudi Arabia have previously shown an interest in acquiring the Olympique club but no official approaches were made. If their takeover bid was successful, they even had the bold plans of appointing Zinedine Zidane. Despite rumours, no sale appears to be on the cards.
Open to outside investment
Despite not wanting to sell his majority stake in Marseille, McCourt would welcome some external investment in the club, The Guardian reports. The American would be keen to raise finances through external investment to fund improvements at the club and help bridge the gap with European giants across the continent.
