According to a report from L’Équipe, Southampton and Clermont Foot are interested in FC Nantes centre-back Stredair Appuah (19).
Last season, Appuah played 80 minutes in Ligue 1 having played 61 minutes in the season prior. The centre-back has featurely largely for the Breton club’s youth side. He was a part of the side that reached the semi-final of the Youth League last season and Appuah is therefore attracting attention due to the exposition in that tournament.
Appuah’s contract with Les Canaris runs until the summer of 2026, however, the France U20 international is now being linked with a summer departure. Clermont Foot, whose return to Ligue 2 was confirmed last week, have made an enquiry about the centre-back.
Southampton, who are preparing for their EFL Championship play-off final against Leeds United have also made an enquiry ahead of potentially placing a bid. However, L’Équipe understands that Nantes are reticent to sell Appuah.
